Just when you thought you hadn't seen anything good lately along comes a film like Sing Street. This fantastic flick stars Ferdia Walsh-Peelo as Connor a young boy growing up in Dublin during the tough times there in the mid-eighties. When his parents move him to a cheaper school to save money he is thrust in the middle of public school hell. Surrounded by bullies in every form from students to the headmaster to the insane bully who dominates the courtyard, it is pretty awful. Things seem pretty bleak until he lays his eyes on the girl who lives across from the school, Raphina played by Lucy Boynton. After approaching her and asking her to play in his band, he and his friends scramble to actually put together a band, write some music, and create a music video for her to be in. This 10 seconds of courage act changes the future of them all and brings them to their true calling - music.

I cannot say enough great things about this movie. From the kids acting n it, to the kick-ass soundtrack, this is a fantastic film.  It has tons of laughs and seriously witty humor. It reminded me of films like School of Rock and the Full Monty. They were just  fun to watch and enjoy.  This film, not only has a great soundtrack of it' own, but it also brings in some of your favorite music from the 80's and isn't afraid to make fun of some of our insane fashion choices back then. The love story in the film is sweet and real. I think we can all recall those first crushes we had back in school and wanting to do anything to be noticed (apparently the secret was just starting a band and being awesome, who knew?).  Ferdia steals the show with his acting talents. Watching him also feels like you are watching the teenage years of Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong. And holy cow, let's talk about Connor's brother Brenden played by Jack Reynor. This guy looks like he could be Seth Rogen and Chris Hemsworth's lovechild. He bears an odd resemblance to them both. His character was great though as the guiding light of the film.

There are just so many good things I could say about this movie, but I will hold back and let you find out for yourselves. Do not miss Sing Street when it hits theaters everywhere April 29th! This one is an easy A+!
