In conclusion, the movie has an easy enough plot to follow, a good cast of characters, and enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat. The film will also make you rethink where you put your personal information in because you really never know where it could be going too. If someone wants you to use fingerprint into sign-in, please don't do it. That’s like giving your name to a demon, ya just don’t do it. Either way, this movie is certainly a fun watch and deserves to be seen. Go see it when it comes out this Wednesday, July 27.

When you have these good friends, What else do you need?

Just like any high school movie, Venus has her share of friends that she hangs out with but only a couple that has any character development or matter to the story as a whole.  We have Sydney (Emily Meade) the best friend who is most likely the worst friend as a whole, as she is the one who coaxes our lady into joining the game.Tommy (Miles Heizer) the hacker best friend who what a surprise has a thing for our leading lady.  Tommy was the first to spot that this online game where you have to use your fingerprint to sign in, may be a little worrisome to get involved with. Then you have Ian (Dave Franco)  a mysterious handsome player who couldn’t be shady because he's handsome and fun right? The biggest character of the movie has to be the Game itself since the game has is essentially an interconnected web of “watchers’. The game of Nerve reminded me of Twitch, an online community of people watching people play games. Sometimes the users who sign in to watch people play games can donate money to the person, and in turn, they do things for that user. Of course, it's all nice things, usually, but you get the idea that if you give anonymous people the power over you. You are going to run into a lot of disgusting and horrible people because they can hide behind the screen.

The biggest upset of this movie, was just not being able to hear more of the soundtrack. Even though the movie played a song almost every thirty seconds, I could not get enough of the music, it was everything I like in music. EDM (Electronic Dance Music), Indie Rock, and some pop thrown in, it was a good listen. Will certainly see if I can pick up the soundtrack on Spotify, and you should too!

The plot and conclusion of the movie were suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat. The film willingly forced me to watch my fear of heights become even more manifested. I will not lie to you, I really dislike heights. The movie is called “Nerve” for a reason, but I know that I could not play only for the watchers knowing that I hate heights and I will not be able to handle it. You could bet me any money, and I will bail in a heartbeat. The bailing/failing part of the Game also didn’t make sense to me, why would you play a game where if you racked up enough money, see it get deposited. Then the moment you can't do something, you see it all disappear and all that time you wasted doing that crazy stuff is gone. Seems like a pretty dumb game to me. Maybe that is also me talking as a watcher if you will.  The theme of the movie falls into those categories of people who can be deemed a watcher or a player. Must we have to fall into those categories? Can we decide that we do want to be the proactive player and then on some days just the lowly watcher?  What’s the off chance that we can actually be neither? The film does fall into the tropes that the game preys on people to choose what they will be to fit in, into what everyone is doing. This movie kind of compares to how everyone is catching fictional monsters on their phones. Since everyone is doing it, you must as well.

Now I have to preface that in the movie no one is asked to jump off a bridge, but the analogy still stands. The movie is also based on a book by the same name, but since I have not read the book, this review will not bear that in mind. The movie Nerve is about a high school senior Venus (Emma Roberts), named coincidentally after the Goddess of love, finding herself immersed in an online game of truth and dare. The game has very simple rules just like truth or dare, be a watcher or a player, watchers pay money for the players to do stuff they want to see. Do stupid stuff but make stupid money, easy right? Just like the whole saying, “It’s all fun and games until the entire community of young people want you to go off the deep end”.

I bet you to see this movie $12

Someone give you a million bucks, would you jump off a bridge?
