The latest film from James & Dave Franco and Seth Rogen is an interesting one. Their film The Disaster Artist is based on the book of the same name. It chronicles the real-life tale of the making of one of the worst rated films of all time The Room. The book was written by actor/director of the original film Greg Sestero. The guys have brought together an all-star cast to bring this story to life. Everyone from Kristen Bell to Zac Efron to Sharon Stone. The star power in this movie is staggering. One of the cool things about the film is James Franco was so dedicated to staying in character he even directed the film in character. The guy knows how to go all out for his work.
We had the chance to screen the film last night I can say that we were not disappointed. If you are even a little bit of a fan of The Room you should completely enjoy The Disaster Artist. It is bizarre, funny, and just freakin awesome Fans of this bad film turned cult success story will be shouting out their favorite lines throughout the film and I wouldn't be surprised if a few spoons didn't fly overhead while you are watching. Fans of the Room know that this film has taken on a Rocky Horror-like following with midnight showings that still sell out across the country. people dress up and bring props. It is so bad it is good. So Seeing the pure insanity of this movie is wonderful. The Franco boys are dead ringers for their counterparts in the film.
The Disaster Artist opens in theaters everywhere December 8th, but I would highly recommend checking out a screening (if you can find one) of the room before seeing this so the jokes are truly fresh in your mind and don't miss our pics from the SXSW 2017 red carpet premiere of the film below!
